A word from Doug,
Running for re-election in October 20 general election -

For almost 12 years it is has been my distinct honor to serve as mayor of Rock Hill.

Over that time we have worked hard to maintain and enhance the quality of life our citizens value while leading our community through a period of significant growth and transition.

Today I believe that Rock Hill is on the threshold of a new era of accomplishments as many of the city's investments in the future are poised to take off in the next couple of years.

But, as we experience a time of economic uncertainty it is important for our leaders to remain focused and consistent so that the city is positioned to take full advantage of the economic upturn that will eventually occur.

With a strong personal interest in the progress of our community and a sincere belief that our most exciting days lie ahead, I am announcing today my intention to run for reelection to the office of mayor in the October city elections.

I thank the many citizens and supporters who have encouraged me to seek reelection and in particular, I want to thank my family for supporting me in another race for public office. I look forward to the opportunity to continue serving the community.
